The goal of our discussion is to investigate the perceptual effects of digital technologies and the ways in which these effects are reflected in the arts, biosciences, and popular culture. Regardless of age, sex, geographic location, income, or political beliefs, each and everyone of us is (or will be) influenced by the new discoveries that are reshaping biomedicine in ways that could have been barely imagined a decade ago. These new discoveries, which permeate our daily lives, are presenting fundamental challenges to traditional societal values, but can science and industry really tell the whole story?
